London and Secret Cinema | Learning to Love London <3

A while ago we bought tickets to secret cinema. This is a totally amazing concept where film and theatre are combined to create a full immersive experience. This year it was The Empire Strikes Back! It was genuinely out of this world! We WILL be going again. Although it is all based on the movie so if it’s a movie you love GO! If it’s a movie you’re not into then it probably wont feel like it’s worth the money to you. I think everyone should go; search your feelings. secret cinemaAs part of the immersive experience they recommend outfits for you. Me and Ian were given different fractions but I felt we owned in our own ways! I was a galactic explorer and Ian, a star fighter pilot. We used what we had apart from the orange jumpsuit and the scarfs that were a ‘necessity’ for each fraction.

As it took place in London, we stayed with one of my bestest friends from uni. He very kindly put us up for a couple of nights. and as Ian is not the biggest fan of our country’s capital city he has not visited very often at all. I wanted to show him some parts that he could actually enjoy.

We walked the entire day (until the taxi home, because it was too late and we were too tired, but it only cost £8!). We started off walking down Portobello Road on Saturday morning so the market was in full swing! it was a scorching hot day and with all the hustle and bustle and smells it felt as if we were abroad. It is a feast for all the senses, there were so many items crammed into small road side stalls, street food everywhere and buskers playing everything from reggae to double basses.

We struggled to ref-rame from buying too much to carry home with us as we both have a soft spot for thrifting and the such. We did come away with a basketball T-shirt each and were even able to find GLUTEN FREE STREET FOOD! There was a felafel stall that did a very delicious GF felafel box with humus, salad, pickles and optional chillies. It was delicous and I had zero repercussions. However, just as we had finished sharing this we then also spotting a tiny Hummingbird Bakery along the road which we clearly HAD to purchase 2 GF red velvet cupcakes from! YUM YUM YUM! (we needed the sustenance to walk London!).

hummingbirdWe then walked along through Nottinghill and Hyde Park only to arrive at Harrods. I feel like Harrods is a niche shopping experience where there, in London is one of the few places you can experience it. I feel like I am at one of the centers of the world when I visit places such as this, where everything I ever wanted is right at my fingertips. The extravagance and opulence is extreme but if you take it as a special experience that is opening up the world it is very exciting. I always feel my eyes and senses can never fully take everything in that I want them to.

We then moved on to Hamleys where, if it were not for my friend being there too, I’m pretty sure Ian would have bought half the store! It clearly bought out the kids in us and we had wayy too much fun reminiscing and reliving some childhood memories as well as discovering a whole new world of toys that we wanted in our lives! I’m sure if we had completely let loose and spent all out money we would have returned with some minecraft, lego, magic sand, magic balloons, the levitating UFO and many many many more!

Now a must visit for all PANCAKE lovers and GLUTEN FREE’s in the world! MY OLD DUTCH. We went here for dinner as they offer savory and sweet pancakes. The crepe style pancakes could all be made gluten free but the butterscotch ones couldn’t be, not that it mattered to me! I shared a Hot Dutch and an Amsterdammer. The Hot dutch was a pancake pizza! A PANCAKE PIZZA!!! There was tomato sauce, cheese and pepperoni! It was purely incredible! The other had bacon, apple and maple syrup. 1 pancake was more than enough as they were huge! and even the GF was the same size as everyone elses. I cannot recommend this place enough as I hope you can tell from all the caps!! They have 3 locations throughout London so if you’re there please go and enjoy!
